73rd Republic day

 

  • Chief Minister Shri Jayaram Thakur ji participated in a state-level ceremony held today on the occasion of 73rd ‘Republic Day’ in Shimla.

 

Important Points:

 

  • The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety and fervour across the State today. The state level function was organised in Shimla where Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar unfurled the national flag and took the salute of March Past at the state-level Republic Day function.
  • The functions were also organized at all district headquarter levels in which the chief guests unfurled the tricolor and paid homage to the martyrs and freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifices for the nation.
  • The Governor inspected the parade and took the salute from an impressive march past, led by Parade Commander Capt Gurdev Singh from 2 Naga Regiment, Jutogh.
  • Tableau of Rural Development and Health and Family Welfare Department were given the first prize jointly. Municipal Corporation, Shimla got the second and Tableau of Education Department was given the third prize. The Governor presented the prizes in the presence of the Chief Minister.
  • The Governor also honored Mahatma Gandhi Swasthya Sewa Sansthan, Khaneri (Rampur) in Government Sector and Lion Riyon Dialysis and Health Care Center, New Shimla for their best performance in Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

  • Smriti Mandhana was named ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year on Monday for her incredible track record in all formats in 2021.
  • Mandhana was shortlisted for the top award — the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy — along with Tammy Beaumont of England, Lizelle Lee of South Africa and Gaby Lewis of Ireland, the ICC said in a statement.

What is the news?

  • The first Hanogi-Kholnal cable-stayed bridge in Himachal to be constructed at the cost of 21 crores is nearly ready.
  • It will be launched between now and March. Kullu, Mandi and Lahaul-Spiti districts will benefit from the construction of the bridge. It will also be a center of attraction for the tourists.
  • The inhabitants of Saraj and Drang do not have to go to Pandoh because of the construction of the bridge. This will reduce their distance by 20 km. Its work is in the final stages.
